Junior Leadership Gaston is an exciting program for high school juniors designed to develop informed, committed, and qualified young people capable of providing dynamic leadership in their schools and in the Gaston County as they grow and mature into adulthood.

Purpose

The purpose of Junior Leadership Gaston is as follows:

  • Identify and select potential leaders from students in Gaston County
  • Stimulate students’ awareness of needs within Gaston County
  • Develop a spirit of cooperation among students
  • Create a sense of understanding between students and adult community leaders
  • Identify opportunities for community involvement.

Curriculum

In addition to Orientation and Graduation, Junior Leadership Gaston Class of 2013, will meet from September through May. to learn about pertinent topics as designed by the Junior Leadership Gaston Advisory Board.
Class sessions will generally meet on protected teacher workdays and will normally last from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Tuition and Scholarships

Tuition for Junior Leadership Gaston is $150 per participant. Scholarships are occasionally awarded on the basis of financial need.  At least one graduate from Junior Leadership Gaston will receive a $500 college scholarship.
