The Board of Directors of the Gaston Regional Chamber of Commerce initiated a new strategic plan, which will allow the Chamber to remain a truly meaningful, relevant organization to its investors and to the community in general.  The plan will allow the Chamber to focus its energy and ensure that committees and task forces are working toward the same goals.  The 2011-2013 planning process has given the Board of Directors the opportunity to assess and adjust the strategic direction of the Chamber to meet the challenges of a changing environment.  We are living in an area of exponential change, and the 2011-2013 plan allows the focus of the organization to remain on the foreseeable future.  Six strategic areas of focus have been identified during the planning process as critical to the future vitality and viability of the Gaston Regional Chamber of Commerce and the business community it serves.  The strategic areas of focus are:

  • Developing Small Business
  • Promoting a Vibrant Economy
  • Serving as the “Voice of Business”
  • Focusing on our members
  • Creating a positive image
  • Creating a Model Organization

As a division of the Gaston Regional Chamber the Economic Development Division (EDD) will play a major role in the implementation of the Chamber's Strategic Plan. Of the six areas of focus identified in the statregic plan the EDD will be the leader in promoting a vibrant economy for Gaston County. The EDD will align its activities and resources to assist with the implementation of the Chamber’s strategic plan and achieving outlined objectives. The EDD will focus on: marketing through its partnership with the Economic Development Commission; Workforce Development through its partnership with Gaston Career Climb, and Small Business and Entrepreneurism development.
